Power of the Purse 2019
Blossoms of Hope and Her Mind Magazine are pleased to announce another successful Power of the Purse event held at Sub-Zero and Wolf by Fretz Showroom on June 10, 2019. The eighth annual POTP raised more than $40,000 to help support Blossoms of Hope! A portion of the proceeds from Power of the Purse will be donated to the Claudia Mayer/Tina Broccolino Cancer Resource Center, University of MD Marlene and Stewart Greenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center and other local charities. Thank you for your support!
The 350 guests browsed over 2,000 gently used and vintage purses available for cash and carry that were displayed throughout Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove by Fretz. As a bonus over 30 designer handbags – including new purses by Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Coach and Tory Burch were available in the designer purse silent auction. An additional 80 baskets — filled with such treats as certificates to spas and restaurants and specialty purses — were available as part of the Silent Auction.
This year, we added more time to shop with our VIP Muffins and Mimosas! We kept the Early Access option from 3:30-4:30 and then opened the doors at 4:30. Guests partook in delicious food from Maggiano’s, dessert from Season’s 52 and wine from Iron Bridge Wine Company!
In addition to all the contributors and volunteers, the success of 2019 Power of the Purse is largely due to the community. Without our many friends – who scour their closets for handbags to donate, and who show up to buy and bid – the event just wouldn’t be as festive and fun. Nor would it raise such generous funds for the important work of Blossoms of Hope in support of the Claudia Mayer/Tina Broccolino Cancer Resource Center at Howard County Hospital, The Greenbaum Cancer Center, Gilchrist Hospice and other local charities. Thank you again for making this year’s Power of the Purse bigger and better. See you in 2020.
